Syros is a very sunny, and fairly barren island, with cold windy winters, and receives most of its sparse rainfall in February and March. Average temperature in the summer months is about 28 C/84 F, the Meltemi winds keeping the temperature at a comfortable level. These meltemi winds that blow from the north in summer can get pretty intense, depending on how sheltered the location.
